Mid City Merchants Association is a group of civic-minded business owners and organizations who contribute to the landscaping and maintenance of medians in Mid City, maintain a scholarship fund for Baton Rouge Community College, and donate to the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank, as well as other good causes. A majority of the businesses are locally owned. Mid City is Baton Rouge's most unique arts, design and shopping district. Mid City is the heart and soul of Baton Rouge.

The fifth annual Baton Rouge Mid City Merchants sponsored spring art hop, “Hot Art, Cool Nights”, will be held on Friday night, May 9, 2008, from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. This premier spring art event is one of the top in the city as attested by the thousands of art lovers that jam into the participating businesses.
